Hilltops Council now has an exciting opportunity for a Water and Sewer Projects Engineer to join the Council's team on a full-time, 9 day fortnight basis.

Reporting to the Water and Sewer Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the project management of infrastructure facilities and ensuring completion of projects within budget, time and to expectations of Council's water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure.

More specifically, your daily duties may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing and completing assigned capital projects within budget and delivery timeframes;
  • Monitoring and managing the performance of contractors such as facilitating site meetings and providing updates to the supervisor.
  • Providing technical guidance and input in the design of water and sewerage infrastructure;
  • Managing the design review process and managing the engagement of contractors; and
  • Preparing contract documentation and technical specifications relating to capital projects.

About You

The successful candidate will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and have significant experience working in water and waste services.

Candidates will also need to have experience in the investigation, planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure as well as project management

You must be an analytical thinker, a self-starter and have highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

While not essential, candidates with previous experience working in local government will be highly regarded.

Please note: Candidates must hold a current unencumbered driver's licence.
