Hilltops Council now has an exciting opportunity for a Development and Design Engineer to join the Council's team on a full-time, 9 day fortnight basis.

Reporting to the Survey and Design Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the design and construction of civil engineering works is in accordance with Hilltops Council standards and community expectations. 

More specifically, your daily duties may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assessing civil engineering designs and associated documentation submitted to Council as part of applications for construction certificates (subdivisions);
  • Liaising with applicants prior to and during the civil engineering design assessment process;
  • Mentoring and providing feedback to the Survey and Design Engineer in the assessment of civil engineering design matters; and
  • Coordinating "Safety in Design" reviews of road-related design projects including traffic-related design projects completed by either council staff.

About You

The successful candidate will need to hold a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and have significant experience working in a road-related role.

Candidates will also need to have a good understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, the Roads Act, Water Management Act and the Local Government Act.

You will also need excellent interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and the confidence and ability to make autonomous and independent decisions and be proficient with AutoCAD and 12D.

While not essential, candidates with previous experience working in local government will be highly regarded.

Please note: Candidates must hold a current unencumbered driver's licence.
